Message:
how can we turn these 7 sins around? and with back it up with scripture.
Captain's Response:
There is reason in all that God does, His word gives the reason. Prov. 6:16-19 v-16 [These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him: v-17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,] We read in Prov. 11:1 A false balance is abonination to the Lord: but a just weight is His delight. 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world; the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Eph.4: 23-25 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; v-24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. v-25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another...[V-18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,] Rom. 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Prov.12:2 A good man obtained favor of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will He condemn... [v-19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among his brethren.] 1 John 2:22 Who is a liar? but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Gal. 6:6-7 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto Him that teaches all good things.v-7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap...Captain
Subject: NABOTH STORY

Captain's Response:
Before Naboth's story there was a spiritual conflict that demanded a decision in the time of Elijah. 1 Kings 21:1-6 And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria. Ahab wants to buy the vineyard, which Naboth, will not sell. Jezebel promises to get the vineyard for Ahab. v-8-10 So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in the city, dwelling with Naboth.v-9 And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people: v-10 And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die...Naboth is dead, Ahab goes to take possession of his vineyard. v 17-20 And the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, v-18 Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone to possess it. v-19 And thou shalt speak unto him saying, Thus saith the Lord, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the Lord, in the place where the dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine. v-23 And of Jezebel also spake the Lord, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. v-27-29 Ahab humbles himself and God delays his punishment. His death came in 2 Kings 22:15-28 Ahab disguises himself and goes to battle, but is mortally wounded by an arrow. v-29-38 When his carriage is washed,as God predicted through Elijah, the dogs licked his blood.2 Kings 9:30-37 Gives a discription of Jezebel's death. As Jehu enters the city Jezebel sits in the upstairs window shouting defiances. v 33 And he said throw her down. So he threw her down:and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses:and he trode her under foot.v-35 And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.v-36 Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the Lord, which He spake by His servant Elijah the Tisbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the the flesh of Jezebel... Judgements and blessings may be delayed but God's word will hold true...Captain
Subject: Rachel's father's idols
2008-03-31 18:21:29
Message:
Why does it mention in the bible that rachel stole her father's idols, her father runs jacob and his family down, asks about the missing idols, searches for them and then all else that is mentions is that rachel sat on her saddle and lied to her father about having her period and that jacob did not know about her taking them. I feel like the this is leading some where and then nothing else is mentioned, does jacob never know that rachel took the idols and if he did find out did he get upset or did he still favor her? Was Leah stronger christain that rachel? Was the whole story about imperfections in people just like today's people?
Captain's Response:
Gen.31:11-13 God speaks to Jacob in a dream, He said, I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee. v-13 I am the God of Bethel where thou annointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto Me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred. Then the wives speak to Jacob v-14-15 And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house? v-15 Are we not counted of him strangers? for he sold us, and hath quite devoured also our money. v-17 Jacob rose up, and set his sons and wives upon camels. v-18-a And he carried away all his cattle, and all goods which he had gotten. Jacob was concerned with his family and what was his. Rachel had more on her mind v-19 And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that were her father's. Jacob did not know what Rachel had done. Laban questions Jacob v-30 And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longest after thy father's house, yet therefore hast thou stolen my gods? v-31 Jacob tells Laban he was afraid he would take his daugthers by force. Jacob goes on to say v-32 With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them... Gen.29:31-32 Leah was put in a position of being second, she felt God's blessing when she was able to have children for Jacob. We also go through many similar things that we read about in our Bible, but notice how God continues to see and care for the needs and pain of His people... Captain

Message:
Did Jacob's father-in-law cheating him by having him marry Leah first then Rachel, and taking advantage of him (working him for so many years) have anything to do with Jacob putting the fur on his hands and stealing his brother's blessing? I mean I understand when Esau gave him his birthright for food, it was a instant gratification attitude thing, but then Jacob and his mother deliberately tricked Isaac the the food and fur thing?
Captain's Response:
Other than causing Jacob to leave home, only God knows how his life was changed by the events that followed, but God was truly with Jacob. Gen.28:15 And behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again unto this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spokento of thee... Gen.29:20-26 Tells after Jacob worked for 7 years for Rachel, Laban had a different plan.v-23 And it came to pass in the evening, he took Leah his daughter, and brought her in to him; and he went in unto her. v-26 And Laban said It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn... v-27-28 Jacob agreed to stay more time, and Laban gave him his daughter Rachel to wife also. Even though the way Rebekah and Jacob went about getting the blessing was not a smooth transaction only God can judge. The Bible tells us Rebekah inquired of the Lord in Gen.25: 22-23 And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be seperated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger...Captain

Captain's Response:
As with many things that are out of our control, you must rely on your gracious, and loving heavenly father. He has sent Jesus to show us His great love. Jesus tells us in Matt.11:28 Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest...You do not need this worry at this time of grieving. Jesus will help you, He can free you and give you peace. Try to understand your soninlaw if you can, was he good to your daughter when they were together? If she went through a long illness maybe he has already accepted his loss, this sometimes happens. Also some people can't seem to be alone. What ever the reason you should try to forgive, it will only hurt you to keep this inside, and you don't need this pain. you should not feel you have to meet your soninlaw's wife. If you change your mind later, that would be your choice. Right now take care of yourself, and let God's love help you heal. Why did Esau despise his birth right?
Captain's Response:
It seems that Esau was only living for the present, without thought, concerned more about his physical comfort than his birthright. Gen. 25:32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? v-33 And Jacob said swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. v-34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright... Nothing happens that God is not in control of. God told Rebekah, concerning Jacob and Esau Gen.25:23-B And the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger... I recently met a Moselum. We've been seeing each other for some time and it looks like we may be getting married. I talked to him about salvation in Lord Christ Jesus but he tells me that Jesus worshipped and asked forgiveness from God-Almighty only, Just like Mouhammed. He gave me many references Matthew 19 verse 16 , that story where dear Jesus was approached by three men and one knelt asking 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He said that only God is good, no one else. He said that the divinity of Jesus Christ, is the only main difference between between our religions. I then told him that I thought Islam was much more violent than Christianity and that God orders a prophet to kill pregnant women, Children and to rape the virgins in the Bible. Num (31 17) He says that a man named Ahmed Deedat alreay countered most of the inconsistancies and we watched him on You-Tube How do I counter that?!! I like this guy a lot and I want to do the right thing and get married, but I don't know what to say. Can you help me help him find a way to Jesus? Signed Frustrated, Marla,
Captain's Response:
All things must be tested by the Bible. Jesus did not need to ask for forgiveness, He was without sin. Heb. 4:14- Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. v-15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin... Scripture tells us in St John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, v-14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, [and we beheld His glory as of the only begotten of the Father,] full of grace and truth... Also in 1st John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one... Matt.19:16 This scripture is the story of the rich young ruler, in search of eternal life. The young mans question reveals his motivation, he does good to others to get eternal life. We cannot work or buy our way to heaven. St John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way ,the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me... St John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved... Concerning Num. 31:more is explained in v-16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the council of Balaam, to commit trespass against the Lord in the matter of Peor, and there was a great plague among the congregation of the Lord. Also read Num. chap.25...We can trust the God who cannot lie. Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world begun;... We might think we know a lot of things, but if it goes against the Bible it's not true. Rom. 3:3-4 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? v-4 God forbid: let God be true, and every man a lair; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged...1st John 2: 25-27 And this is the promise that He hath promised us, even eternal life. v-26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. v-27 But the annointing which you have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same annointing teacheth you all things and is truth, and is no lie, and even so as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Me...Captain

The Apostle John begins with the divinity and incarnation of Jesus in John 1: 1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. v-3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made. v-4 In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. v-5 And the light shinneth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:6-12 Speaks of the ministry of John the Baptist. v-6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. v-7 The same was for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through Him might believe. v-8 He was not the Light, but sent to bear witness of the Light. v-9 That was the true Light,[Jesus] that lighteth every man that cometh into the world. V-10 He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. v-11 He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. v-12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God. v-14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, [And we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.] v-29-b John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Subject: the other disciple
2007-11-17 19:53:16
Message:
why is John refered to as the other disciple in John 20:2-3
Captain's Response:
Jesus loves everyone, but John can only give account of what happens with his fellow disciples, and give personal testimony of his life with Jesus. We are not told why John refers to himself as the disciple Jesus loved, it could have been his understanding, and love for his Lord, and assurance of the Lord's Love for him.2 Pet.2:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. v-21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. The sourses for the life of John the apostle are meager. What does exist is found in the NT, and has been preserved by tradition. He was the son of Zebedee, the brother of James the apostle. It may be reasonably inferred that his mother was Salome, [Mark 16:40] sister of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Jesus and John would have been cousins. John was first a disciple of John the Baptist. He heeded the call to repentance and baptism and preparation for the coming Messiah. John was one of the three apostles who were closest to Jesus, the other two were his own brother James, and Peter. John stood near the cross on which Jesus was nailed, and there received commission from Jesus,to look after His mother.[John 19:26-27] On the morning of the ressurection, when John and Peter were told by Mary Magdalene about the empty grave, together they went to see for themselves. [John 20:2-3] In the account of the appearance of the risen Lord in Galilee the sons of Zebedee receive special mention, and it is John who first reconizes Jesus [John 21:1-7 ] The Book of John ends with these words. [John 21:24-25] This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know his testimony is true. v-25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. This scripture comes from Romans 12:1. The epistle of Romans, written by the apostle Paul, may be divided into two main sections. This portion of scripture from Romans 12:1 is titled the surrendered life. v-1 I BESEECH you therefore, brethern, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable sacrifice... Where does st paul refer to women as the weaker vessel and what does he mean by this?
Captain's Response:
This scripture is written by the apostle Peter. It was the Peter Christ prophesied should become a rock,Jn.1:42. The same man chastened by years of suffering and trial, and strengthened by the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The epistle evidently belongs to the later period of his life, In writing this apistle, Peter obeyed two specific commands which Jesus had given him. To encourage and strengthen the brethren, Lk.22:31 and To feed the flock of God. Jn.21:15-17... 1Peter 3:1-6 touches on duties of wives, v-7 husbands duties, v8-13 exorting all men to unity and love,v 14-18 and to suffer boldly for righteousness sake: v-19-22 declares also the benifits of Christ through the old world. From the beginning all things were made in God's order. Adam was first. Gen.2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Gen. 2:18 And the Lord God said,It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. Not that one was more important than the other, but each has their place. 1Peter 3:1 LIKEWISE, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; [that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;] v-2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. Duties of the husbands, v-7 Likewise ye husbands,[dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hendered.] The chapter continues with exhorting all to unity and love. 1 Peter 3:13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? ...Captain

can you give me a story related to this David was told that he was going to be king of Israel, but he spent most of the next ten years on the lam. Joseph had a dream in which he ruled over his brothers, but he spent the next thirteen years as a slave and a prisoner. Although you do know the outcome in both cases, you cannot foresee your own future. Yet you can trust God to operate on the same principles. 1. God is in control. Your life is not in a tailspin, controlled by fate or circumstance. An omniscient, sovereign God is ruling over everything. There are no accidents. He is never surprised. 2. The God who is in control is working for your good and his glory. He never promotes or fosters evil. He is always looking out for your best interests. The conflict comes because what He sees as working for your good is not what you desire. God uses adversity, dryness, temptation and testing for your welfare. 3.God will bless others through your wilderness. He is working not only for your good but also for the benefit of all His people. and give me some follow up questions as well... thanks!!! i need this tom.
Captain's Response:
The timing belongs to God, our part is to trust and obey just as David and Joseph did. The Bible gives these lessons from life that we might see and know our Heavenly Father, and His plans for our life. We see the faithfulness of these men, as well as many others in the Bible who believed and followed God. John 3:16 tells us we serve a God who loves us, Titus 1:2 a God who cannot lie, Heb. 13:5 A God who will never leave us nor forsake us. Our faith and trust in God, gives us the assurance of God's love, and eternal life that we may never be seperated from Him... This story is told of a man who felt so discouraged and weak because of things that happened in his life. One rainy morning he went to a diner to eat breakfast. Others were there but no one spoke to him, or to anyone else. The man sat down trying to decide what to order. At the other end of the diner was a young mother and her little girl. Suddenly the child broke the silence by asking her mother, "don't we say grace here mommy"? Behind the counter the cook looked at the little girl and said, "Sure we do honey, Will you say it for us?" The little girl bowed her head clasped her hands and said in a loud voice, God is great and God is good, and we thank Him for our food. By His hand we all are fed, give us Lord our daily bread. The atmosphere in the diner changed, and people begin talking one to another. The usually gloomy man later told how the little girl's faith had changed him. He too, started to believe in God, to believe in other people and to believe in himself. He began to pray, and experienced the power of God in his life... What do you think is most important to God concerning us? John 3:16 ... Why does God want people to love Him? 2 Peter3:9 ... How can we show our love to God? John 14:15 ...How does God respond if we don't always do right? ...1 John 2:1-3 My little children, these things I write unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: v-2 And He is the propitation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. v-3 And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments ...Captain

Captain's Response:
Eph. 1:3-14 This doctrine holds that as the scripture's tell us, God exists in three coequal Persons. The word trinity is not found in the Bible. The New Testament, clearly teaches what the Old Testament made known: Jesus is God the Son, who from eternity was God with the Father [John 1:1-14; Phil.2:5-11], God the Father devised the plan of salvation, God the Son carried out the plan, shedding His blood for our redemption and forgiveness. All things are possible with Jesus. James 4:7-8 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. v-8 Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts ye double minded... God will hold us responsible for our actions, but the good news is He is also able to deliver us. 2 Peter 2:4-9 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgement; v-5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; v-6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; v-7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: v-8 [For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;} v-9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished: Our responsibility is to submit ourself to God. Jesus is our Saviour, not only for eternal life but also in this life. Phil.1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good thing in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Jesus tells us in Matt.11:28-30 Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. v-29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me ;for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. v-30 For my yoke is easy , and my burden is light...Captain

Captain's Response:
Our goals should be what is pleasing to God. Our purpose is to bring glory to God. Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of his heart his mouth speakth... On a warm summer afternoon, a woman attended the baptism of her neice in a great old stone church in the country. The wide doors of the church were flung open to allow the sunshine to warm the chilly structure. As she sat enjoying the ritual, a small bird flew in through the open doors. Full of fear it flew backward and forward near the ceiling seeking a way to the sunshine. From window to window and back to the ceiling, this continued for several minutes, the woman watched the bird with concern thinking how foolish that the bird didn't fly out the same door it came in. Nearly ready to fall to the floor, the bird made a final lunge to the ceiling rafter, realizing it was in no immediate danger it hopped a little on the beam, turned around, and suddenly saw the open door, without hesitation it flew into the sunshine, loudly singing a beautiful song as it went. The bird had captivated the woman's imagination. Suddenly she realized that she had been like that bird. She had flitted about, trying to live a "good" life of nobel works without realizing the door of salvation had been open to her all the time. She suddenly understood that to avoid flying into places that offered no hope of eternal life, she needed only to stop and be still in the presence of the Lord. From that vantage point, she could see the door of grace that He had prepared for her...Jesus tells us in Matt.6:19-21 Lay not up for yourself treasures upon earth, where moth and dust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: v-20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: v-21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 1 John 4:19 We love Him, [Jesus] because He first loved us...A young boy walked into a pet shop. Soon he is facinated by watching a litter of puppies play in one of the pet shop windows. As the pups wrestle and tumble in playful bliss, the young boy can't help but notice that one of the pups has a deformed hind leg. After several minutes of watching the playful deformed pup struggle to keep up with the others, the young boy calls to the shop owner. "I would like to buy that pup in the back." He points to the deformed puppy. The shop owner with a look of dismay states, " Son you don't want to spend your money on that pup. He has a damaged hind leg." The young boy with determined certainty states, " Yes that is the pup I want." The young boy then leans to pull up his pant leg and shows the shop owner the brace on his leg "I want this pup because he needs someone to care for him who understands him." It was God who sent Jesus to us. Jesus tells us in John 15:16 "Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you ask of the Father in My name, He may give to you...God chose us and we have the great privilege of Choosing Jesus to be our Savour, and to have eternal life. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. My heart concerns is about my 29 year old daughter and the man she now lives with out of wedlock. I led her to the Lord around 3 years ago and she began attending church with me and helping me with my Sunday School. She met this man about 5 months ago and slowly but surely things begin to change. About 3 months ago she moved in with him, against my preaching about it not being the will of God. Today she is no longer in church, ever thing about her has changed to the ways of the world, not God's. I'm having a very diffucult time having any fellowship with the man she's living with, I can speak to him, but can't accept him as part of my family. She says I'm wrong, and that's not how a Christian should be. My heart is broken, and I can't pretend that I'm ok with the situation, when I'm not. I can be sociably, but that's all. She has had two unscessful marriages, three children, on girl by her first marriage, which we now have adopted, and two other girls from a bad relationship outside of marriage. She has also spent time in jail for wrong doings three different times. She got saved and married a really nice guy who she divorced withing a year. Said she only married him because she though he would make a good dad. I am also concerned about my two young graddaughters that live with her and this man. They are 4 and 5 years old. I know this is not a good example for them to follow. I love my daughter, and always want her to be a part of my family. Am I wrong to not accept him as a part of my family. I feel as though he is a great influence on her choices now, and I believe if he truly loved her he would have insisted they get married, not live together. He also says he is saved. My daughter told me she knows she's doing wrong, and doesn't want me to tell her anymore, Should I just be quite and say nothing else about the situation???

Never under estimate the power of God, and prayer. James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much...There is very little we can physically do to change adult children. Your daughter knows she's doing wrong. She need's you to love her, and be an example. You led her to the Lord, now trust God to guide her. We know what God wants for her, He tells us in 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that, all should come to repentance...You have the same mind and heart as God toward your daughter. Be patient God sees your pain. Pray that God will show you, His will in this relationship, that He will strengthen your daughter and her friend in faith, and bring them to a right relationship with Him. The young children could also benefit from your love and teaching, maybe you could take them to sunday school. Prov.22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it...Don't give up, Jesus had this to say in Luke 18:1 And He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;...Rom.15:5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus...The Lord Bless You and Your Family...Captain

Captain's Response:
Not much information is given about long prayers. Jesus said in Matt.6:7 But when you pray , use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for much speaking...The longest prayer could be in Nehemiah chapter 9. Many have found inspiration from Nehemiah, and principles to apply to their own ministry. He faced opposition with courage and was a consistant example of commitment to godliness, unwavering trust and fierce determination that God's people must obey the law. The book is filled with prayer as he works, with God's help, to restore the wall of Jerusalem and revive the people. While the enemy scoff, Nehemiah prays to God, and continues the work: Some were not happy with Nehemiah's work. Neh.4:8-9 And conspired all of them to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it. v-9 Nevertheless we made our prayer unto God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them. Some prayers were very short as in Neh.6:9 For they all made us afraid, saying, their hands shall be weakened by the work, that it be not done. Now therefore O God strengthen my hands...The book of Nehemiah closes in chap.13:31-B Remember me, O my God, for good. Psalm 119 is also a long chapter of prayers and praise. Rev.2:1-7 Ephesus the steadfast church works hard, rejects the wicked... but has left their first love. Jesus words in v-5-a Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent and do the first works; v-7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; to him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God... Rev.8-11 Smyrna the poor but rich church persecuted, yet faithful, known for it's wealth and contribution to science and medicine. It was also a center of emperor worship. Christians who refused to burn incense and say Ceasar is Lord, suffered much. Jesus said in v-10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison; that ye may be tried and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. v-11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death...Rev.2:12-17 Pergamos the morally compromising church Jesus tells them in v-13-a I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast My name, and hast not denied My face. v-14-a But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel. v-16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth. v-17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the cuurches; to him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name is written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it... Rev.2:18-29 Thyatira the doctrinally compromising church does more than at first, but tolerates imorality, and false doctrine. Jesus said in v-20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou suffereth that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce My servants to commit fornication, and eat things sacrificed unto idols. v-24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. v-25 But that which you have hold fast until I come. v-26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth My works unto the end, to him will give power over the nations. v-29 He that hath an ear , let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches...Rev.3:1-6 Sardis the counterfit church Jesus said in v-1-b I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. v-3-a Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast and repent.Jesus gives hope in :v-5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but will confess his name before My Father, and before His angels. v-6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches...Rev.3:7-13 Philadelphia the obedient church Jesus said in v-8-a I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: v-10 Because thou hast kept the word of My patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.v-12-a Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go no more out: v-13 He that hat an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches...Rev.3:14-22 Laodicean the materialistic church v-14-b These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; v-15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. v-16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth. v-20 Benold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.v-21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne.v-22 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches...The Gospel of John was written around AD 75-80 A report of the Son of God's life and teaching for believers. The Christian church was already established. We know from 2 Tim.3 2 Peter 2 and Jude heresies were around, taught by false teachers. 1 John written about AD 85-90 Responds to the problem in 1John 5:20-21 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true, and we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. Subject: Sabbath Day
2007-06-06 12:01:42
Message:
I am going through a church split at the moment over teh seventh day sabbath as compared to the first day sabbath. I believe the sabbath is the seventh day and can see no authority in the Word of God for the change, the view the are using for defending the first day is below The view is from a commentary by Robert Shaw on the Westminster confession of faith. Could you please help me in being able to give them a answer they say that the first day of the week should be the christian sabbath because it was foretold in the Old Testament Scriptures: "This is the day which the Lord hath made" Psalm 118:24, they say this refers to Christ's resurection and tie it in with the stone which the builders rejected was become the head stone of the corner. Compare Acts 4:10,11; see also Ezekiel 43:27 where the eighth day is mentioned as the day on which spiritual sacrifices were to be offered up to the Lord, and the christian sabbath may be called the eighth day, because the first day of the week now is the eighth day in order from creation.
Captain's Response:
The Sabbath and The Lord's Day are both important. The sabbath is the day of rest God speaks of in Gen.2:3 Under the old covenant man was to live by the law. Trouble began with the fall of Adam, and continued on. We read what the law could not do in Rom.3:20-26 Therefore by the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. v-21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets. v-22 Even the righteousness of God which by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: v-23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; v-24 Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.v-25 Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forebearance of God. v-26 To declare, I say, at this time His righteousness: That He might be just, and the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus...Early Christians kept the seventh day sabbath, but also met for worship on the first day of the week in celebration of Christ. As the split between Jews and Christians widened, Christians came gradually to meet for worship only on the first day; typical of God's entrance into rest through Jesus Christ [Heb.chapter 4]...It's mans heart that God is concerned with, not so much the day. Col.2:16-17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: v-17 Which are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ. Rom.14: 5-6-b One man esteemeth one day above another, another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. v-6-b He that reguarded the day, reguarded it unto the Lord; and he that reguarded not the day, to the Lord he doth not reguard it...Rom.14:19 Let us therefore follow after things that make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another...Captain

How can I possibly believe my decision will be right when I can't even see tomorrow?... The friend thought and finally said, Here's how I look at it, you know when you're driving down a dark country road with no street lights to give you notion of where you are? It's a little scary. But you rely on headlights. Now those headlights may only show you ten yards of road in front of you but you see where to go for that little stretch. And you travel that ten yard stretch of road, the headlights show you ten more yards, and ten more, until eventually you reach your destination safe and sound. That's how I feel about living by faith, I may not be able to see tomorrow, next week, or next year, but I know that God will give me the light to find my way when I need it. Jesus gives His disciples spiritual instruction in Luke 24:44-49 v-45 Then He opened their understanding that they might understand the scriptures...And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands, and blessed them. v-051 And it came to pass, while He blessed them, He was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. v-52 And they worshipped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: v-53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen. The disciples were ready they had been with Jesus. The book of Acts also written by Luke the beloved physician, whose main theme is missionary campaigns in the early church, gives this account of Jesus' words in 1:-4-B He commanded them [His disciples] they should not depart from Jerusalem but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith He, ye have heard of Me. v-5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. v-8 But ye shall receive, power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jesusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the world... Acts chap. 2 The apostles are filled with the Holy Ghost, Peter preaches, thousands are converted. Acts chap.3 the healing of a lame man, Peter's new courage and a call to repentance... Great things were happening, but the church did not come to be without tribulation. Acts chap.4 Comes the first persecution the arrest of Peter and John, conference among Jewish leaders, not being able to deny the miracle of the healed man, they commanded the disciples not to speak at all or teach in the name of Jesus. Acts chap.5 Judgement pronounced upon Ananias and Sapphira. The apostles inprisoned, but delivered by an angel. Acts chap.6 The apostles care for the poor and preaching of the word. The Greek complain of neglect of their widows, not wanting to leave the ministry the disciples chose seven deacons. Stephen was among the seven. Acts 6:8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great miracles and wonders among the people. v-10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and spirit by which he spake. v-11 And they suborned [bribed to do evil] men which said we have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God. They arrested Stephen. Acts 7: v-55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. v-59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. v-60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. There is a threefold usage of the word seed in Scripture. Agricultural, Physiological, and Figurative. The word physiological [seed of copulation emission of semen] is a frequent expression in the Hebrew laws of cleanness. Lev.15:16 And if any man's seed of copulation go out of him, then he shall wash all his flesh in water, and be unclean until the even. The New Testament speaks of Christians having been begotten of God of incorruptable seed. 1 Peter 1:23 - 1 John 3:9 The sexual union is sacramental in the sense that it is an outward sign of an inner commitment of love which is recognized as a gift from God. The union is more than physical, for from it emerges a spiritual gift and knowledge. And it is not a mere fact of nature; hence man is not in bondage to it. What did it mean? What does it mean? What shall I do?
Captain's Response:
The Book of Proverbs is a collection of Maxims containing instruction concerning right living. Also brief discourses on Wisdom, Justice, Temperance, Industry, Purity, etc. In these pithy sayings a sharp contrast is drawn between Wisdom and Folly, Righteousness and Sin. Prov. 15:1-4 Starts with kindness v-1 A SOFT answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. Our very approach and attitude gives us a choice to do good or evil. v-2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. v-3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness [turning to error] therein is a breach [breaking of a rule, law, or promise] in the spirit. Proverbs places tremendous stress on the power of words and speech, for good and for ill. What we say, how we react to what others say -advice, or rebuke, or gossip, or tempting suggestions - betrays what we are. Jesus had this to say about speech and character in Matt. 12:34-37 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. v-35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringth forth evil things. v-36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement. v-37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be comdemned...Captain

WHAT DO CHRISTAINS TODAY BELIEVE ABOUT JESUS' SUFFERING AS TOLD IN MARKS GOSPEL?
Captain's Response:
As in all books of the Bible, we study and appreciate the special teaching, one book may speak to us more at certain times. 2 Tim. 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: v-17 That the man of God may be perfect throughly furnished unto all good works... The Gospel of Mark This account of Jesus life was written by John Mark, in Rome around AD 55. Mark was a young person when Jesus died. After Jesus resurrection, Mark became one of the apostles on Peter's missionary team. His Gospel records Peter's eye witness stories of Jesus life and ministry. Mark was the shortest book of the Gospels. It is thought that the writer had in mind the Roman or Gentile christians in his preparation of the book. The style is vivid and picturesque. Much of the subject is also found in Matthew and Luke, but it is not a mere repetition, for it contains many details not found in either of the others. Although emphasizing Christ's devine power the author often alludes to His human feelings;- His disappointments, Mark 3:5 His weariness, 4:33 - His wonder 6:6 - His sighs 7:34 -His affection 10:21 - About a third of the book is about Jesus' last week on earth, ending with Christ's death and resurrection. This part of the scripture always has a sadness to it, but even though such a great price was payed the Bible tells us this in Mark 12:10-11 and Psalm 118:21-24 I will praise thee; because thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. v-22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. v-23 This is the Lord's doing; it is marvelious in our eyes. v-24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it ...Captain

Captain's Response:
Biblical & Greek meaning of the Scripture "...in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy path".
Strictly speaking there is no Greek meaning of this Scripture found in Proverbs 3:6, as the Old Testament was written in Hebrew, excepting sections of the book of Daniel, which were written in Aramaic. It would eventually be translated to Greek as the Septuagint, but that would not help to get at the original meaning. The New Testament is the portion of the Bible written in Greek. The Hebrew reads as follows, from right to left:
![]()
(The Hebrew Bible : Andersen-Forbes Analyzed Text; Bible. O.T. Hebrew. Andersen-Forbes. Logos Bible Software, 2006; 2006, S. Pr 3:6)
There is not really any difficulty in translation. You posted the KJV. The NASB reads more literally “In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight” and the NIV reads very similarly. The Hebrew root yâshar which is translated "direct" in the KJV, literally means to make straight. Perhaps a more interpretive version is found in the NLT , “Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
There is no word in the Hebrew language that can be translated as religion. Instead, the Old Testament writers used the analogy of a walk. Enoch walked with God (Gen. 5:22) and was taken up. Noah walked with God (Gen. 6:9). God commanded Abram(Abraham) to “walk before me and be thou perfect” (Gen. 17:1) as well as the other patriarchs(Gen. 48:15). It is the challenge God laid before the Hebrew people (Ex. 16:4, 18:20; Lev. 26:3,12; Deut. 5:33, 8:6, 11:22; Joshua 22:5; Judge 2:22). It is also the criteria by which Kings were judged good or evil (1 Kings 3:3, 15:3, etc.)
The walk is the single greatest metaphor of faith in the entire Old Testament. In the context of this passage, the emphasis is submitting to the power and provenance of God. Verses 5 & 7 maintain a very similar theme of trusting in God’s power and will rather than our own. In the light of verse 1, which is clearly talking about God’s laws and commandments, this fits very nicely with the other uses of a walk as an analogy of faith.
As a warning, the promises of God in Proverbs and elsewhere should never be used to manipulate God. This is no different than the magic and sorcery practiced by pagans in an attempt to control the world. The faith analogy of a walk is what makes the Hebrew faith so distinctive from its Ancient counterparts. It was a relationship based on faith and trust where God dwelled and walked with His people as exemplified by the temple and the tabernacle.

Romans chapter 12 has these instructions for Christian duties. 12:1 I BESEECH you therefore brethern, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service... God does not want us to die for Him, but to live for Him. V-2 Test and approve God's will. To truly perceive life from God's perspective we must like it His way. It is a way of life. This passage discribes many ways that you and I can express God's love to others. Let's not complain if our local church is'nt characterized by the way of life discribed here. Let's begin to live love ourself among it's members. Love is not only wonderful. It's catching. v-17-21 Recompense to no man evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. v-18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. v-19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. v-20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in doing so thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. v-21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good...Phil.1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that He that hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ...Captain

Captain's Response:
The ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ necessarily came between His earthly and His heavenly ministry. [See Acts 1:6-11, Mark 16:19, Luke 24:50-52] He came to die for our sins, and to rise for our justification [Rom.4:25] then He entered heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father [Acts2:32-35] and to act as our Mediator [1 Tim.2:5] when we come to the Father in prayer, and as our advocate [1 John 2:1] when we fail to come. It occured publicly and visibly, partly to convince His disciples of the reality of the event, and partly to build a strong hope for His equally visible return [Acts 1:11] His ascension was predicted in the old testament in[Ps.68:18-20] v-18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them. v-19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. v-20 He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto God the Lord belongeth the issues from death. Also His ascension is predicted by the Lord Himself in [John 20:17] and has been accepted as a central doctrine by all Christians since Pentecost. It is included in the Apostles Creed; "He ascended unto heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God." His going was a necessary preliminary to the Holy Spirit's coming.[John 16:7]...Captain

Because in first century paganism, estatic utterances even epileptic seizures were thought to indicate closeness to a god; the young Christians in Corinth assumed that those who had the gift of tongues were especially closer to God. Paul responds in 1Cor.12:1-31 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. v-2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. v-3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost... The Holy Spirit gives each believer different gifts, all gifts are useful in God's service. v-4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. v-5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. v-6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. v-7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal, v-8 For to one is given by the Spirit; the the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; v-9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gift of healing by the same Spirit; v-10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues: to another the interpretation of tongues: v-11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as He will...The Spirit gives gifts to all believers, all gifts are useful for the unity of believers as members of Christ's body. v-27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. v-28 And God has some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. v-29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? v-30 Have all gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? v-31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet I show you a more excellent way. 1 Cor.chap.13 gives the more excellent way. The two scriptures given have seen written by two writers. Matthew simply stating, he went and hanged himself. Acts version written by Luke the beloved physician giving greater details. Nothing is written in the Bible that shouldn't be there. 2 Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. v-21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost...I can see both scriptures discribing the same event. Matt. 27:3-10 Then Judas, which had betrayed Him [Jesus] when he saw He was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, v-4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. v-5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. v-6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because this is the price of blood. v-7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potters field, to bury strangers in. v-8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. v-9 Then that which was fulfilled that was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of Him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; v-10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me. Acts 1:16-19 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. v-17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry... Miller and his followers known initially as Millerites, proclaimed that the Second Coming of Christ would occur on Oct.22,1844. The movement was widely ridiculed after that day passed uneventifully and the Millerites quarreled among themselves. Those loyal to Miller became affiliated with the Washington, N.H., Millerite Church, which had begun to keep the Sabbath on the Seventh day instead of Sunday. Soon other groups in New England and the Middle West reconized Saturday as the Sabbath. These churches established headquarters in Battle Creek Mich., in 1855 and officially adopted the name Seven Day Adventist in 1858. The denomation was formally organized, in 1863. Headquarters were moved to Washington in 1903...There are many different views that men have. While they were there in Bethlehem Mary's time came. v-7 And she brought forth her first born son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for him in the inn. v-8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.v-9 And, lo,the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.v-10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.v-11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.v-12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. v-13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, v-14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.v-15 And it came to pass as the angels were gone away from them unto heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. v-16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. v-17 And when they had seen it,they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning the child. v-18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.v-19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. v-20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen...So we celebrate Christmas as the day Christ was born with the same praise as those recorded in the Bible. Heb. 13:15 By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name...Captain

do u think a believer is justified in being afraid?explain
Captain's Response:
The dictionary describes afraid this way, in fear, timid. Fear may be either apprehension of evil, or awe of authority. The disciples were afraid in Matt.14:26 And when the disciples saw Him [Jesus] walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, it is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. v-27 But straight way Jesus spake unto them, saying Be of good cheer; it is I, be not afraid...We are also told in Prov.9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding... There is a healthy fear that brings us to God. Jesus tells us in Matt.10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell...To the christians our hope and trust is in Jesus. Our faith, prayer, and the bible, helps overcome fear we might have. Jesus tells us in John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid... 1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: v-7 Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you...Captain

I got married on February 8th 2006 and since then my life has been a living hell. I am 24 and my husband is 25. Ever since, my in-laws want the marriage to end. They have gone so far as to use spiritual wickedness and evil to get rid of me. I can't get pregnant. I once had a pray service at my home and the pastor said that they were doing evil to end the marriage and they would stand on my womb so that i can't have children. I cried all night and day. My heart is sour. Please help me. I too young to go through this. my husband is on their side. he curse me, wants me out of the apartment, my name out of the account, etc. it has only been 10months in marriage and all of this is happening. Please help me, i want to have children to. p.s i have found out that his family has a generational curse because of all of the evil that has been going on from generation to generation.
Captain's Response:
The Bible has this to say about husband and wife. Gen.2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh...Families should not interfere. I can't understand a pastor acting the way you describe, they more than others should know what the Bible teaches. You should not even consider having children, until you see more love and support from your husband. His attitude toward you is not a godly one. Families can teach bad habits, or ungodly acts to their children, but if we truly believe in God, He will teach us the right way to live and act toward one another. Col.3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Eph.5:28-31 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. v-29 For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church; v-30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. v-31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh... How could God give us simpler answers than this? Unless your husband is willing to believe, and live according to the Bible you can't expect a happy life. You need to love and cherish each other, and make decisions together as God planned for married couples. The Lord be with you...Captain

Captain's Response:
Gen. chapter 3 gives this account. v-1-5 The serpent deceives Eve. v 6-8 Tells of Man's fall. We also read in Rom. 5:12 Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and sin by death; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: V 9-13 Adam and Eve hear the voice of God walking in the garden and hide. God called to Adam, Adam feels guilty, afraid and ashamed before God. Adam blames Eve, and Eve blames the serpent. v 14-15 The serpent is cursed: his overthrow by the woman's seed. v 16 Mankind's punishment: and loss of paradise. God continues to love and care for Adam and Eve. v 21 Unto Adam also and unto his wife did the Lord God make coats of skin, and clothed them. v-22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever: v-23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. v-24 So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the tree of life...God is a holy God , His plan is not for mankind to live forever in sin. Rom.5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.] v-21 That as sin hath reigned unto-death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord...Captain

what happens after death?
Captain's Response:
Jesus tells us in John 11:25-b I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: God has made a way for all people to be saved. Rom.5: 8-9 But God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.v-9 Much more then, being justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. Salvation is for all people, Jesus tells us how to receive it in John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son, that [whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.] v-17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. v-18 He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but [he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.] Rom. 14:7-8 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. v-8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the lord: whether we live therefore or die, we are the Lord's...Sadly there will always be those who don't believe. God created man to live forever. When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, they chose to listen to the devil. We have no reason to be decieved as they were. Rom.14:11-12 For it is written, As I live saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God. v-12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God...God can't look on sin, if we hope to be in heaven when we die we need to believe and practice the teaching of God. All unbelievers will be judged in the last judgement. Rev.20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. v-12 And I saw the dead small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. v-13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it;and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to his works. v-14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.v-15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. John 6:37 Jesus tells us in All that tha Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out... God is good...Captain

Information on Ezekiel the prophet.Who is he ?where is he from? what does he do/ how did he came a prophet /what happen to him then/
Captain's Response:
In 597 BC King Jeho1iachin surrendered Jerusalem to the Babylonian army, and was taken into exile. With him went io,ooo men, among them was Jeremiah's younger contemporary, Ezekiel, then in his mid-twenties. Ezekiel was in training as a priest, looking forward to service in the temple like his father before him. Exile in the plains of Babylonia, far from Jerusalem, meant the end of all his hopes. But five years later, when he was 30 [the age at which he would probably have taken up his duties as a priest, God called him into service as a prophet. The call was accompanied by a vision of God which coloured his entire ministry... Ez.1:1-3 Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year,in the fourth month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. v-2 In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of King Jehoiachin's captivity, v-3 The word of the Lord came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the Lord was there upon him. Ezekiel sees God's glory again in Ez.1: v-28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. That was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it,I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake. Ez.2:v-1 AND HE said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. v-2 And the spirit entered into me when He spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard Him that spake unto me. v-3 And He said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against Me: they and their fathers have transgressed against Me, even unto this very day. v-4 For they are imprudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; Thus saith the Lord God. v-5 And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear,[for they are a rebellious house] yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them...Ez.43:1-7 Ezekiel began with a vision of God in the plains of Babylon. It ends with a vision of God returning in glory to a new temple, God in the midst of His people again never to depart...Nothing is more important to God than our personal relationship with Him...Captain

Captain's Response:
Beginning at Eph.6:1-9 We read of the duties of children, v-4 of parents, v-5 of servants: and v-9 of masters. God's word teaches how our actions should be toward others. Eph.6:10 Finally, my brethren, [ be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.] We can do nothing on our own. Jesus tells us in John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me you might have peace, in the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world...Paul also speaks of our spiritual power, our strength in God, our spiritual armour, and resisting the devil in Eph.6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. v-12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. v-13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. v-14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; v-15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; v-16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherefore ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. v-17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: v-18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; God's word continues to teach us we are never alone. Captain's Response:
You have a loving and forgiving husband. You also have a loving and forgiving God. He has heard your prayer, and forgiven you. Now you must forgive yourself. David cries out to God in Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart O God; and renew a right spirit within me. v-12 Restore unto me the joy of my salvation; and uphold me with Thy free spirit. v-13 Then shall I teach transgressors Thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto Thee...God wants you to have the assurance that He has forgiven you, that others might see His love in you. He also wants you to have joy in your life, and to be free from guilt. Psalm 103:11 For as the heaven is so high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him. v-12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us... Jesus who has the power to forgive our sins, had this to say. John 8:3-11 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto Him a woman taken in adultery: and when they had set her in the midst, v-4 They said unto Him, Master, this woman was taken in adultrey, in the very act. v-5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? v-6 This they said, tempting Him, that they might have to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not.v-7 So when they continued asking Him, He lifted up Himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. v-8 And again He stooped down, and wrote on the ground. v-9 And they which heard it, being convicted of their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. v-10 When Jesus had lifted up Himself, and saw none but the woman, He said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?v-11 She said, No man, Lord, And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more...What a Mighty God we serve...Captain

Captain's Response:
There are many sin's and temptations in this world. God instructs us to keep ourself from sin. We are saved by grace and must not abuse that grace. Rom.6:11-13 Likewise recken ye also to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. v-12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. v-13 Neither yeild ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yeild yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God...We read in James 1:12-15 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him. v-13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempted He any man: v-14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. v-15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death...As in all things we can only answer for the things we do. We cannot answer for your husband's actions, the pastor, or members of the church, but God will judge each of us according to His word the Bible. Unlike man's love, God's love is never ending. God see's your pain, pray for His strength and love to surround you. He will bring you to a place of peace. This account of David and Solomon concerning the building of the Temple is found in chapters 28 and 29 of 1 Chronicles. 1 Chr.28: v-2 Then David the king stood upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in my heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building: v-3 But God said unto me,thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou has been a man of war, and hast shed blood. v-6 And He said unto me Solomon thy son, he shall build My house and My courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father. In chapter 29 David causes the princes and people to offer for the house of God. 1 Chr.29:v-3 Moreover because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house. v-5-B And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the Lord? v-6 Then the chief of the fathers, and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king's work offered willingly. v-7 and 8 tell of their giving. v-9 Then the people rejoiced, For that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the Lord: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy. v-12 Both riches and honour come from Thee, and Thou reignest over all; and in thy hand is power and might; and in Thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. v-13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise Thy glorious name. Luke 13:10-13 And He [Jesus] was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. v-11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. v-12 And when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. v-13 And He layed hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God... Jesus shows His love and compassion as He frees the woman from her infirmity [physical weakness].She was truly thankful, but others were not. v-14-17 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. v-15 The Lord answered him and said, Thou hypocrite doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? v-16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham whom satan hath bound, lo,these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day. v-17 And when He had said these things, all His adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him. Each of the gospels portrays conflict between the Pharisees and Jesus over the sabbath. When understanding of biblical concept rules out compassion, then we have distorted or misunderstood what the word says. Matt.12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day...Captain

Jesus gives this account in Matt.10:33-37 But whoever shall deny Me before men, him also will I deny before My Father which is in heaven. v-34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I come not to send peace, but a sword. v-35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. v-36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. v-37 He that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me...Jesus tells us we are His witnesses. Our christian beliefs, or faith in Jesus, can divide us from family. Be patient and kind as you witness, show love always, but stay strong. 2 Tim.2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth...People are more likely to seek God's help when going through trials, sickness, or death, this could be a time when they need hope. 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear... pLEASE POST THIS TO SEE IF OTHERS FEEL THE SAME WAY? brendakk1960@yahoo.com
Captain's Response:
First you need to know and "believe God is in control." We will not be held responsible for the sins of others. You are only responsible for the way you respond to God and His word. Jesus tells us in John 10:10 b I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly. God has not given us the ability to fairly judge others, we can only witness by our testimony of what Jesus has done in our life, and our actions toward others. All people are not at the same place in their christian life. Gal.6:1-10 Gives great information on our duty to help others. We should not always trust our feelings, but prove all things with scripture. This account is given in 1 Kings 19:10 And he [Elijah] said, I have been jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine alters, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life to take it away. God answers Elijah in V-18 Yet I have left Me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which have not kissed him...Only God knows our hearts. You may find it much easier, not to feel responsible for others spirituality, only God can change that. Try to think of yourself, maybe taking walks to enjoy God's creation. Thank God daily for your salvation and other blessings He gives. Our attitude can change our whole outlook. Sometimes helping someone less fortunate can be a blessing. There are many ways to show God's love. Matt.5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. The Lord Bless You...Captain

Captain's Response:
In the temple the inner court was devided in to two unequal parts by a cross wall running N. and S. The eastern and smaller area was the Women's Court. Here women as well as men were permitted and here were located 13 chests like inverted trumpets, into which offerings for expenses of the temple services were placed. In this place the poor widow was commended by Jesus when she gave her two copper coins [Mark 12:41-44] For reasons of ceremonial purity only men were allowed in the western area, which contained in it's center the temple proper. Around the temple was the Court of Priests which contained the alter of burnt offering and the laver. Around the Priest' Court was the Court of Israel, acessible to all Jewish males. Here the men gathered when the service was being carried on, to pray and to observe the offering of the sacrifices [Luke 1:10] In the center of these many courts within courts stood the temple itself, raised 12 steps above the Court of Priests. Although we read of many different rules, Jesus tells us in [Gal.3:27-28] For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. V-28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: For ye are all one in Christ Jesus...Captain
